History

Ernest F. Fullam, Inc. was founded in 1953 by Ernest and Barbara Fullam. The original focus of the company was scientific consulting. This soon led to adding various microscopy accessories and laboratory supplies. The consulting business was sold when the accessories became our primary business. The company has been at its present physical location since 1958 and remains a family run business. Peter Fullam has been our president since 1977.

Ernest F. Fullam was a pioneer in electron microscopy. He collaborated with Rockefeller University biologists Albert Claude and Keith Porter in creating the first electron micrograph of an intact cell. It was published in The Journal of Experimental Medicine in March 1945, in "A Study of Tissue Culture Cells by Electron Microscopy," by Keith R. Porter, Albert Claude, and Ernest F. Fullam.
