Evaporators
No. 12510: EFFA® Vacuum Evaporator
The EFFA® Vacuum Evaporator is intended for use in an EM laboratory.
Carbon or metal evaporative coating, aperture cleaning, shadowing, and
some freeze-drying are its primary functions. Large chambers and bulky
vacuum systems are not needed to accomplish these basic techniques. The
functional design allows many additional advantages.
- Size: Bench space required is only 24" x 36". Weighs less than 200
lbs.
- Mobility: Air-cooled diffusion pump eliminates water connections.
Single 115V outlet powers entire unit, including pumps. These factors,
coupled with the compact size make the system "lab cart mobile".
- Versatility: Vacuum chamber consists of stackable sections with
side entry ports. A variety of accessories can be mounted on the port covers,
allowing the user to carry out more than one coating without breaking vacuum.
- Speed: After warmup, the system will pump to operational vacuum
in minutes.
- Ease of Operation: Minimum number of operator controls. Simple instructions.
- Durability: Lucite viewing ports and aluminum chamber sections reduce
the danger of implosion. No critical glass parts in the entire system.
The simplicity of design and choice of features make this unit a dependable
and rugged instrument. Tested and shipped under vacuum.
Standard Equipment:
- Two aluminum chamber sections, 9" inside diameter, 5" high. Bottom section
has five 2¾" diameter ports. Top section has six ports.
- Eleven interchangeable port covers, 3¾" diameter, O-ring sealed. Two
covers with electrical feedthroughs to mount evaporation sources. Two Lucite
port covers. One cover with air vent.
- Air-cooled 2" diffusion pump with cold trap and cooling fan. 3.3 cfm rotary vane
vacuum pump.
- Hastings thermocouple vacuum gauge.
- Main power, diffusion pump, mechanical pump and filament switches. Powerstat
controls voltage applied during evaporation. Ammeter monitors output current.
Timer connected to mechanical pump. Allows unattended backing of diffusion
pump during cooldown.
- Carbon evaporation kit: Specify No.
12005 1/4" rods or No. 12015 1/8" rods
kit.
- Metal evaporation kit: Specify No.
12310 basket or No. 12330 boat kit.
- Materials: Package of 6 tungsten boats or baskets, package of five carbon
rods, two feet of gold wire, package of chromium chips, package of germanium
chips, dark viewing glass.
